Josh Franklin

Josh was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Josh grew up singing in church and always knew he wanted to be a performer. In addition to starring in the high school plays and musicals, he led the marching band as drum major for three years and was a representative in the student council. In the afternoons, he would head over to the Colorado Springs Conservatory to study music and theory under the direction of the conservatory founder, Linda Weiss. He performed in many Operas throughout high school and provided entertainment all across the community. During the evenings, Josh cleaned the bathrooms at the school in order to pay for classes, never letting anything stand in the way of his dreams.

His passion for music and drama led him to Webster Conservatory for the Theater Arts in St. Louis Missouri, where he earned a B.F.A. in musical theater. While devoting his time and energy to his art and furthering his understanding of his craft, Josh starred in productions such as Lucky Stiff (Harry Witherspoon), Ten Little Indians (Anthony Marston), and Shakespeare’s Winter’s Tale (Leontes).

After college, Josh had the pleasure of performing on two Disney Cruise Line ships with many talented people including American Idol contestant and star of Dreamgirls (the movie), Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson. He played the title role in Hercules the musical, Prince Charming in the awarding winning show Disney Dreams, and was a vocal soloist in the farewell show. While on the cruise ship, Josh discovered his love for poetry and began writing lyrics and music. This sparked an interest and love for recording which he hopes will never end.

Since wrapping up his debut in the revival of Grease, Josh has gone from

Legally Blonde (ensemble u/s Emmit) to his most recent work, playing Bob Gaudio in the Jersey Boys national tour. Prior to his debut on the B'way, Josh toured nationally with All Shook Up, a musical about unexpected love supported by the wonderful music of Elvis Presley. Josh was among an amazing cast, including celebrity Susan Anton. He also toured with Disney's On The Record starring Emily Skinner, Kaitlin Hopkins, and Ashley Brown; directed by Robert Longbottom. His first national tour in 2004 was as the Teen Angel in Grease.

Josh continues to write and record music as well as work on his craft as an actor. He is a member of the T.V.I. Actor’s Studio, studies voice with Matthew Farnsworth and dance at the Broadway Dance Center. His belief in art as a necessary and important part of humanity continues to fuel his drive and purpose in everyday life.
